Thalassemia is blood disorder disease. It pass through genes.
In which patient body have problem to produce inadequate amount of hemoglobin.
Hemoglobin is a red cell which carries the oxygen to the body part.
But in this disorder, destroyed large about of cell so that it does not produce blood.
Hemoglobin is made of two proteins:
1)Alpha
2)Beta
There are two types of Thalassemia.
1)Alpha Thalassemia-occurs when genetic problem due to alpha goblin protein missing.
2)Beta Thalassemia-Occurs when body does not produce the blood due to gene defects.
So this two types of patient identified by two types.
1)Thalassemia Minor-carried from the parents. when one from mother/father is Thalassemia minor
1)Thalassemia Minor-carried from the parents. when one from mother/father is Thalassemia minor
2)Thalassemia Major- carried from the parent when both parents are Thalassemia minor.
Thalassemia Major patient need blood transfusion of every some days. when child is infant, he/she need on every month or 45 days. But this days are count less when age is higher.
Due to blood transfusion, child body deposit iron in the body and due to iron it affects many part of body.
It affects many part of child/patient body like lever, eye, kidney and brain.
So remove iron from the body, patient need iron chelation medicine to remove excess iron from the body,
